With their large feet and tail kangaroos have an awkward walk but are strong, fast hoppers. Like all marsupials female kangaroos have a pouch for their young. Sensing danger a mother will tighten her pouch to keep her joey safely inside. Subspecies of kangaroos live in almost every part of Australia. Kangaroos graze grass in groups called mobs.
